i have an itchy left breast that has increased over 6 days. just this morning, i saw an ugly red sore. what could it be?

Probably: A superficial infection. If you develop fever, pus, or pain/tenderness in the breast, it could be mastitis, so go and see your doctor. A warm compress applied to the area in the meantime will help it heal faster.
