Can or should? I see no drug interaction issue with this. We have not recommended cough and cold preparations for kids under 6 for decades. Although they were once a common practice, they offer little benefit and studies showed a significant number of ER visits from overuse. I would use ibuprofen separately and a little honey with lemon juice for aby cough.

Nasal saline spray is often effective in reducing post nasal drip and cough. An infant cough preparing with honey may be helpful, but generally are not very effective. Monitor temperature and breathing, watch for signs of prolonged or worsening cough.
