It depends on if the underlying condition is adequately managed. You have not talked about why there was pneumoperitoneum to begin with. If the underlying condition was not identified and adequately controlled is why there is a reoccurence.

The commonest cause of pneumoperitoneum is perforation of a part.of the intestine. When this occurs surgery is needed. You apparently didn't have this problem. However 2 episodes probably places you in the idiopathic category where there are no signs of peritonitis &only conservative management is needed. If it recurs you may want to be evaluated by an abdominal surgeon at a university hospital
