A member asked:

Good evening! is it true that a tattoo carries the risk of developing cancer, since the ink resides within the skin for so long? is there any worry from a doctors standpoint of why you shouldnt leave ink permanently placed in the skin?

While a clear like between tattoos and cancer has still to be proven, multiple health risks have been clearly connected to tattoos, from systemic infections, such as hepatitis and HIV to local infections and aside from causing skin conditions through chronic inflammation. Definitely not a medically recommended procedure.
