Is it normal that a baby sometimes choking with cough during feeding?

Early in infancy the nervous control is poor & things like coughing & choking overlap. As they get older they become separate coordinated functions. Such events during feeding suggest the kids feedings don't just go down, they occasionally come back up again as a reflex like vomiting. Consult with your doc and/or a feeding coach. There may be some fine tuning that could make things go better.

An occasional cough and choking spell without pronged cough, fever or growth issues is usually not associated with anatomic malformation. If your child is otherwise well, feeding at an angle, slower feeding and burping.mid and after feeding is often effective. Please follow up.
