It does sound like sciatica although sciatic pain generally stops at the buttock. You didn't state where the syrinx is located. Your question is only the beginning of the diagnostic process, not the end. Telemedicine has its uses, but in my opinion, in your case, there's no substitute for seeing a live clinician who can actually lay his/her hands on you and do a physical examination.
