Can hashimoto's be cured or only treated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treated: Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system is attacking the thyroid, causing inflammation, and ultimate destruction of thyroid tissue. There is no cure, as we do not treat the autoimmune problem, but rather treat the resulting low thyroid with thyroid hormone. Your immune system is too important in other ways to be affecting it with medications.
