It is common for this to develop after elastin hormone is released into the blood stream. A ligament (Spring ligament) in the foot weakens and thus the arch in the foot will flatten. This causes the fetus to become malpositioned on the blood vessels to legs the legs causing edema. Wearing an arch support could help by providing a better position of the fetus. Also discuss this with your OBGYN.
