Please have an evaluation. The nail may have a sharp edge. Do not attempt to remove it or to induce vomiting. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.

It depends. If the kid can swallow liquids the nail has made it to the stomach and should pass in 2-4 days. Feeding the kid some stewed okra or similar vegetables/pablum can form a congeal around the edges & make it easier to pass. If the nail is caught in the throat the kid won't swallow fluids & needs to be seen.
