Anti-anxiety medications such as SSRI (I.e. Zoloft, Lexapro, and Celexa) as can be used to treat generalized anxiety disorder and has no sedating effects, but can cause insomnia, GI upset and sexual dysfunction. Buspar can cause dizziness. Treatment effectiveness however is not immediate and takes weeks. For panic disorder, anti-histamines and benzodiazepines are sedative.
