Lymph is made up of 96 percent wate.r So an adequate intake of water is important for the efficient circulation of fluids through the lymphatic vessels . Ingested water is absorbed in the small intestine and taken up by the lymph vessels in the intestine , transferring important proteins needed for immune function. Lymph removes excess fluid from tissues and returns it to the bloodstream.
