The only reliable way to diagnose the presence and accurate degree of pulmonary hypertension is with a right sided cardiac catheterization. Only then can a pulmonologist decide whether the pulmonary hypertension needs treatment and it's also important to determine whether you have interstitial lung disease that requires treatment.
