Swelling to both ankles has a few causes. I would make an appointment with your family doctor or cardiologist. Congestive heart failure is one possible cause. Your medications need to be revue. Elevate your legs. Support stockings will help. This is something you do not want to ignore

Some possibilities. 1. Eating too much salt. Mover to the DASH diet for 2 weeks and see, 2. You are taking amlodipine or another BP med. Especially if you have primary hyperaldosteronism. Go to hyperaldosteronism@groups.io for more info. 3. Your blood albumin is low because your liver or kidneys are ill. 4. You have congestive heart failure. Discuss with your Drs.

During your medical checkup make sure that you have a urinalysis to see if it has large amounts of protein in it as diabetes related kidney damage with loss of protein can be a cause of edema. In addition to cardiac causes, liver pathology,varicose veins, certain medications can also cause edema. Weight loss, salt restriction& diuretics are important measures to reduce edema.
