A member asked:

There is an orange mold or bacteria growing on our shower grout. it's been there a while because i've been lazy in cleaning it. i'm 30 weeks pregnant, has this been harming my baby the entire time?

If your body is allergic to or otherwise reacts negatively to the mold it might stress the process. Overall, I doubt it has any impact at all on the pregnancy. If you walk outside at various times of the year you are exposed to similar molds. I believe the relatively uncommon black mold strains that have toxic effects are overblown in the public mind.

Orange discoloration is usually due to a harmless bacterium. Visit this site for info: https://www.h2goonline.com/Blog/274343/What-is-the-black-grey-pink-orange-slimy-stuff-in-my-home#:~:text=The%20discoloration%20comes%20from%20a,in%20soap%20and%20shampoo%20residue.
