Typically, a tremor occurs in a muscle, usually when that muscle is fatigued. Try to identify which muscle or muscle group is involved and then think about your neck position when sleeping Make some changes even if you cant identify the cause, i.e. a different pillow or sleeping position. Heed your neurologist and quell your anxiety by becoming an active investigator. Caffeine? Stress? old injury?

Do you only feel like your neck is vibrating or do you actually see/feel muscle tremors or contractions? If twitching of neck is only upon awakening, I suspect that it's due to muscular reaction to prolonged certain neck positioning during sound sleep making the muscle irritable when you change position while getting out of bed. In any event, this is an unusual symptom but I doubt it's serious.
