My 2 year old has yellow drainage coming from his left ear, he hasn't been running a fever and he hasn't been pulling at his ear he does have a cough.

You may need to : Have it looked at first thing in the morning. Possible that he is suffering from allergies and so congested, that caused him to cough, increase pressure behind eardrums may have caused perforation of eardrum , thus the yellow drainage. Of course, it may just also be moist wax. Cannot tell without examining.
