Baby is likely to refuse if hungry and you are present. Arrange to be out of the house during feeding time and the bottle offered by another. You could boost breast milk production by limiting feeding duration to 5 min/side and feed every 2 hrs during the day, This stimulates the body to make more milk. Drooling baby is not a reason to give solids, just an excuse.

Another suggestion is to try different types of formula bottle nipples. If there is a lactation specialist at your local hospital, perhaps they can observe one feeding. Discuss introduction of rice cereal with your PCP. This may be mixed with either formula or breast milk. This will provide added calories and iron. If the baby is drooling and is experiencing cold or flu symptoms, M.D visit.
