It is possible for "spotting" to occur just after the drop in estrogen occurs prior to ovulation. This may represent two follicles in parallel states of maturation before ovulation. Another explanation is bleeding from sexual activity from the cervix, which may be coincident to your attempts for pregnancy occurring just prior to expected ovulation. See your GYN for an exam.
