A member asked:

I was just diagnosed with cin 2 and she is recommending a leep procedure. im only 23 and have been reading people instead just watching it and its possible it can regress without treatment. im also worried about risks/complications of leep?

"CIN-2" is not a frank malignancy, and while "LEEP" procedures are a recognized treatment for the cellular abnormality, "cryotherapy" of the cervix which includes the junction of endotheilial cells and squamous cells can be as effective and does not create destruction of as much tissue and potential cervical incompetence as does a "LEEP" procedure. Obtain a second opinion for comparison.

According to the most recent ASCCP guidelines, it’s acceptable to have colposcopy and HPV testing every 6 months for 2 years from first CIN2 diagnosis.
