For the past several months, i've been getting intense cramps and chills few days before my period (but not during the period)? i also feel irritable and snap at my family. i usually don't have period pain at all. what could this be?

A condition called "adenomyosis" is essentially invasion of the uterine muscle with endometrial lining, with the intense cramping resulting during the estrogen drop prior to menstruation. Ask your GYN physician about further testing (ultrasound), and use of oral bcp's, which stop ovarian estrogen and will diminish this cause of discomfort.
