A member asked:

I got my mirena 5 year iud in may of 2017 and thought i would have to get it replaced next month but apparently it has been updated for 7 years. im 25, on and off sexually active, so i figured it should still protect me. can i postpone replacement?

I think so because Minera IUD is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy for up to 7 years. If you have a GYN doc you can discuss for your peace of mind.

To get the maximal protection with the Mirena IUD, ask your GYN physician for guidance about any considered postponement .
