There are many resources available to study the side effects of medication especially with the availability of the internet and search engines. The pharmacology books also would tell you about drugs like the structure or class, how it works in affecting the body and how the body processes it, the side effects and antidotes when applicable.

I think it is better to learn how to protect patient from side effects rather than treat them because you will pound patient with another medication. When you prescribe a medication you have to balance between risk and benefit. If the side effect is mild, patient should be reassured but if the side effect is moderate or severe, you should try a different med rather than to treat the side effect.
