A member asked:

If i elect to have my eye enucleated, can i go without any kind of prosthetic? i don't want one. also, if i can go ahead and not have a prosthetic implemented, is it okay/safe for me to just go about life with an exposed empty orbit?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would not suggest so for cosmetic and psychological reasons as you age, and the tissues of the orbit will shrink over time making the fitting of a prosthesis more difficult later in life.
