A member asked:

Doc ordered ultrasound after mammo for very dense breasts and i believe i heard left breast asymmetry. should i worry? please explain as nurse who called didnt say details. nov 2021 had breast exam and doc didnt mention anything alarming?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ultrasound may reveal fibrocystic breast disease ("dense breasts") , but ultrasound after digital mammography is used generally to detect masses not found on physical exam. If your family history has breast cancer in primary family members (mother, grandmother, sisters), an MRI of your breasts may provide more accurate information regarding the density cited.
