HPTs are relatively accurate a week or longer after a missed period. Enough hCG needs to be produced if you are pregnant to trigger a positive result. To avoid unwanted pregnancies use appropriate contraception.

Get a blood test for HCG level to settle the issue. If you did the home test correctly at 5 days after a missed period, it would rule out pregnancy. You may repeat the test in 4-5 days, unless you get a period by then. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD.
