At age "49" it is common to have longer intervals between post-ovulatory menses. It takes higher levels of follicle stimulating hormone to activate aging eggs, delaying onset of ovulation. Ask your GYN physician about low dose oral bcp's, which stop ovarian activity, but also provide less symptoms (bleeding, anxiety, etc. ) from oncoming pre-menopausal conditions.
