A very sharp, shooting, fleeting chest pain is not characteristic if a cardiac origin but can give rise to pvc's by virtue of anxiety caused by them. These pains, especially if provoked by a deep breath, are often caused by a pinched intercostal nerve or muscle that runs between 2 ribs. A lung cause usually has an associated cough.These sharp pains tend to resolve on their own. See MD as needed
