Certainly, severe trauma could result in fracture, but more commonly, TMJ joint dislocates, and compromises jaw opening, chewing, and talking. This does not affect the eyes or esophagus. If you have issues of this sort, contact a dentist ASAP.

But more probably you have a dislocation or a displaced disc. Oral Surgeon can. with the help of appropriate imaging, determine what's wrong and what's best done to treat your problem. And no, fractured jaw joint pieces don't migrate.
