A member asked:

Best medicine/treatment for postnasal drip? dealing with thick mucus in the throat causing globus sensation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Globus sensation is a feeling of a lump in the throat and it is usually caused by an esophageal problem, most commonly acid reflux. Postnasal drainage and thick mucous in the back of the throat is due to sinus inflammation. Over the counter medications like antihistamines (Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra etc.) and steroid nasal sprays (Flonase, Nasonex), usually together, give the best results.
