Stress, polycystic ovarian syndrome and failure of significant stimulation by the pituitary will contribute to irregular ovulation, which will delay true menstrual events. Bleeding will occur eventually because of high sustained estrogen production, leading to breakdown of the endometrium causing sometimes heavy bleeding. See your GYN physician for treatment, and discuss oral bcp's as well.
