High risk for developing cancer (e.g. breast cancer)? i'm 30. i have undergone at least 5 cts and 7 x-rays of my chest and abdomen. i'm terrified of getting radiation-induced cancer. to make matters worse, cancers run in my family?

They are doing and can do low dose CT and the amount of radiation you have had will not cause cancer. Discuss this with your MD and radiologist too. May be MRI/ ultra sound next time?

The radiologic studies are not likely to materially increase your risk of breast cancer. You may wish to start getting mammograms or MRI imaging of breasts at 10 year before the earliest age any relative yours developed breast cancer. You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs.
