Menstruation happens for a few days each month or so, during the fertile years of one's life. We neither speed it up nor slow it down, as it has a natural rhythm. Speeding up or slowing down are vague words, so one can chat with her doctor to assure the correct understanding. If asking about a late period, those happen in all women occasionally. A urine test can be done if worried about pregnancy.
