When should you go to the hospital for a kidney infection. had an ultrasound scan showing infection in both kidneys, dont feel better with cipro but no fever just nausea and flank pain?

The diagnosis of pyelonephritis, or kidney infection, is typically with UTI symptoms, nausea, vomiting, fever and back pain, especially when the back is tapped. A urinalysis and culture can identify the organism. Cipro is usually the treatment for 5-7 days as long as the culture shows it is sensitive. Pregnant women with this require hospitalization. Repeat urinalysis may help if symptoms persist
