A member asked:

Can dexamethasone cause face swelling? is it serious and how long can it last?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it can but only when used for long period of time(over one month or longer). Short terms use of Dexamethasone or any corticosteroid(2 weeks or less) is unlikely to cause swelling of the face. This type of swelling is caused by fluid retention which is common with the use of excess dose of steroids or due to excess production of steroids in the body( this condition is called Cushing's Syndrome)
