People sick with covid can shed the virus from 8-37 days and probably depends upon the severity of the infection. with an average of 20 days of shedding. They can test positive up to 3 months. However the shedded virus after 2 weeks is probably not infectious. Researchers feel the infected patient is actually most contagious 2 or 3 days before they develop symptoms.

The virus is usually active for about 10 days but this can vary from one person to another. Studies have shown it can last up to 83 days and just recently it can linger and be dormant in body organs for months or even years. Have yourself tested if concerned?
