Skipped a period last month and had a 9 day heavy flow this month. is it normal?

Not unusual. A skipped cycle can happen when the woman does not release an egg. That process creates the hormonal variation that triggers menses. Without menses the lining of the womb continues to build & the next cycle will reflect more tissue breakdown. I would not worry about it.

Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.
