"Hard stools" result in straining, which can cause hemorrhoids or even injury to the lining of the colon, either of which will result in bleeding. If you are nursing, lack of fluid replenishment will cause mild dehydration, which can cause "hard stools". Increase your fluid intake, and if the bleeding continues, see a GI physician for consultation.

Hard stool/constipation may be affecting hemorrhoids. For constipation- You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods.
