"Breath holding spells" in a "two year old" may be expressions of frustration in the child, but even if consciousness is diminished, reflex breathing will continue. If this continues, consult your pediatrician for guidance.

The nice thing about the bodies protective systems is they work automatically. A toddlers breath-holding fit will stop & breathing resume, when they pass out, if not before, because the body does it automatically. Try only watching from the corner of your eye/not straight eye to eye. If they don't get you riled up with the behavior it will stop. If it persists, talk with your pedi.
