IUD insertion will cause cramping, but should not persist beyond the first several hours after installation. Uterine contractions can push the IUD into the cervical canal, which will cause persistent cramping. See your GYN physician to check the current location of the IUD . IUD's will not cause GI discomfort or irritation. Ask your GYN physician for a referral to a GI specialist.
