A member asked:

I take 65 mg iron twice a day for anemia that's equivalent to 650 mg ferrous sulfate. is that a safe dose?

Adult male iron requirement is 8mg per day. How much you should take would be guided by your diagnosis and cause of anemia. It is best to stay on whatever dose your MD recommended to correct the anemia. But if you are self medicating pl. stop and see an MD

If you do not have any symptoms, it is safe. However, the need for an adult male to take iron supplement warrants an evaluation to determine why you may be losing iron and by inference blood. Do talk to your doctor.
