The main cause of strong vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal vaginal bacteria. The odor often is strongest after sex. See a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and probably an antibiotic prescription for treatment. Evaluation should include testing for STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia and trichomonas, which are more common in women with BV. Good luck.
