Many reasons: You should get a pelvic exam. It could be due to an infection.

Several poss.: A break in the skin from a dermatitis, infection or trauma that was not recognized at event. A neuralgia, or irritation of a nerve, and an infection or irritation of an underlying gland like "vestibular adenitis". As you can see it may be complex. If it continues, see your gynecologist.
