A member asked:

Should i carry my newborn baby with a cushion or blanket between my hand and his head? family members say it prevents my handprints from forming on his soft, pliable head?

Most common way to carry a newborn is to tuck your baby close to your heart and let your newborn’s head rest on your shoulder. Be sure to support your newborn’s neck with one hand and the other hand is firmly underneath his bottom. There are other ways to do so.

Cary your baby any way you feel comfortable doing it. Any baby that developed handprints from how they were carried has a metabolic bone disease & this would be evident at its first exam at birth. The idea is a myth. Why your family members believe it is unknown.
