JET black stool: Black stool, called melena, can be a sign of bleeding anywhere from the stomach to the right side of the colon. It can also be seen with ingestion of iron tablets. See a doctor and have the stool tested for occult blood and check your CBC to see if you are anemic. If you have blood in the stool, you need to consider having an upper endoscopy and possibly a colonoscopy to find the bleeding source.
