9 yr old grandson 5 days post-op appendectomy, still in hospital, daily vomiting and pain. doc ordered sonogram but not for 2 more days. reasons for the wait?

One concern is post operative infection. Monitoring includes a CBC and inflammatory markers, vital signs. His physicians may be best to answer re scheduling the scan. A CT is another option, but the ultrasound is a good starting point. If he is not an inpatient, please proceed to the Emergency room. Watch for signs of dehydration and infection.

The source may have been something other than simple appendicitis. Could also had mesenteric adenitis (did the child had a recent cold/flu like symptoms). May have an abscess if the appendix was ruptured. Etc.
