Is it normal for your gums to bleed when you start flossing? its my second day of flossing & blood came up from some gums, not a lot & was fine after. should i continue flossing everyday?

You should continue flossing, but master the technique to reduce chances of bleeding. The gum bleeding sometimes is due to effects of the bacteria that you are able to scoop out with the flossing; meaning getting them out reduces the inflammation the gum is prone to that increases chances of bleeding because of the bacteria there.

The bleeding is from gums that are not healthy because of periodontal [gum disease] that is present. When brushing use a soft brush and start brushing on gums first and then the the teeth. Use a waxed floss ,it is kinder on the gums. If gums bleed when you brush than see your dentist or a periodontist for a hygiene program to obtain healthy gums. Flossing every day promotes good oral hygiene.

Infection. When gums between teeth are ignored for a period of time, they become inflamed and infected. Bleeding indicates that either you are flossing incorrectly or that your gums require more care. Floss daily, but do it gently. If bleeding does not disappear in 2 weeks, see your Dentist. If it's been more than 6 months since your last check-up, see your Dentist.

Continue flossing but see your Dentist to evaluate the condition of your gums, diagnose and treat the problem.
