The usual cause for meralgia paresthetica is tight elastic bands, waist bands, belts, seatbelts or clothing across the ASIS portion of the waist. If you haven’t had the condition longer than 8-12 weeks, maintaining loose fitting clothing around this area should lead to slow resolution. Medicines typically don’t have much impact in this region.

Avoid tight belts, bands, pants, as compression of the lateral femoral nerve of the thigh will make this worse. Weight loss and avoidance of pressure may help immensely, but will take at least 3-4 weeks to stabilize. Medications are unlikely to help.
