Genes, aging & foods: Cholesterol goes up the older we get & from inherited genes from our parents. Cholesterol also goes up because of eating fatty & oily foods, certain dairy products, fats from meats, poultry & some seafood. The liver makes cholesterol out of above foods. Remember to look at the good cholesterol HDL (protects) and the bad cholesterol LDL (causes blockages).
