A heart rate in the 50's is not at all uncommon in the supine position or at rest in any position, especially in young adults. It is not a sign of a weak heart. However if your rate doesn't appropriately rise during exertion there could be a sinus or AV node abnormality or it could be cased by autonomic neuropathy which can cause a drop in BP on standin. Your MD or cardiologist can advise you best
