The terminology can be confusing, and is not too important to an individual. Mood disorders include bipolar disorder, depression and mania. Bipolar 2 is predominantly depressive symptoms. As long as you are getting treatment appropriate to your symptoms, the label is less critical.

All bipolar illness is related to dysregulation of your brain’s ability to regulate mood & energy states. Low energy states =depressive states. High energy states = “elevated” states -mild or severe. BipolarII involves depressive states snd mild elevated states. Bipolar I involves severe elevation states with psychosis or hospitalization.Any form of bipolar, work closely with your psychiatrist
